The Relmar Isles
4 centuries ago, in the year 200, Elves, Drow and Lizardmen shared the four islands that make up the Relmar Isles. The Elves lived in the south-eastern island, and built the Elven city, now mysterious ruins known as Gwynbledd. However, when they were corrupted by evil when the monolith was built, the Drow split off, creating a temple to worship the monolith, and the Elves and Drow were in constant conflict. The Elves built a grand monolith, known as Nava, with all kinds of Elven ruins inscribed upon it, magical in nature. Eventually, after decades of on-and-off war, the Elves were destroyed, and their city left to ruins. The Drow now live secluded from the outside world in worship of the Monolith, which has some kind of corrupting power over them.
In the south-western island, the Trollback Mountains were home to giants and other mountain folk, who rarely ventured beyond their high kingdoms.
In the north-western island, in the great forest of Brokilon, where no man who values his life enters, it is inhabited by a menagerie of woodland races, but ruled by dryads to this day. In that same island, in the swamplands live the ancient Lizardmen, who’s major settlement inside their swamps is known as Liss’kik’e.
In the north-east lies the island simply known as Kavass – a place that remains a mystery. Only one thing is for sure. Kavass is a deeply unsettling realm of evil and chaos, and whatever goes on there is not to be disturbed.
In the year 617, the Humans arrived to colonize the Relmar Isles, and gave it the name it has today. They farmed the fertile land on the south-western island, and developed the large port town of Redminster, which grew into a successful, mercantile settlement, flanked by beautiful farmland and glittering blue sea. Inland, the Humans discovered a wealth of Iron underground, and so set up the village of Elford to support the mining operation. In the year 623, they settled in Oxdale, a village which attempted to take the vast and highly-sought after Ironwood of Brokilon – but this wood, despite its wonderful qualities was defended fiercely by the dryads, and many people of Oxdale were slain by dryad arrows. Yet the fact that the village still remains there may hint that the Humans are not done yet in their pursuit for Ironwood…
In the year 633, the Humans sent a ship of adventurers to explore Kavass, but the ship was sunk in one of the magical storms that surround Kavass. It is said the shipwreck holds great treasure.
It is now the year 649.
